Just days after announcing its own domestic AI-optimized cloud service Mistral Compute, the well-funded company has released an update to its 24B parameter open source model Mistral Small, jumping from a 3.1 release to 3.2-24B Instruct-2506.
Mistral has announced Magistral, its first family of reasoning models. Like other reasoning models — e.g. OpenAI’s o3 and Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro — Magistral works through problems step-by-step for improved consistency and reliability across topics such as math and physics.
Mistral Code bundles the company’s latest AI models with integrated development environment plugins and on-premise deployment options specifically designed for large enterprises with strict security requirements. The launch directly challenges existing coding assistants by offering what the company says is unprecedented customization and data sovereignty.
Mistral has teamed up with open-source startup All Hands AI, creators of Open Devin to release Devstral, a new open-source language model with 24-billion parameters — much smaller than many rivals whose models, and thus, requiring far less computing power such that it can be run on a laptop — purpose-built for agentic AI development.
